Introducing support for GPT-5

Today, Warp is excited to roll out support for OpenAI’s newest model, GPT-5, to all users.
Internal testing shows GPT-5 to be especially strong at making changes that cut across multiple layers of the tech stack.
Check out the video below to see GPT-5 tackle a real-world change in Warp, adding the ability to rotate the ghost text in the input bar on new tabs.
Celebrating the launch
To give our users extra opportunities to test out GPT-5 for themselves, we’re excited to be releasing a special promo code.
Use code 5DOLLARGPT5 to get your first month of Warp Pro for $5. This code is capped to the first 5,000 redemptions— claim it fast!
Warp Pro comes with 2,500 AI requests, 40 indexed codebases, and up to 10K files per indexed codebase.
Getting GPT-5 working well in Warp
We worked closely with the OpenAI team to fine-tune Warp’s GPT-5 support, down to the level of the exact tool names that perform best and the precise details of how we format API requests. While evaluating, we found that GPT-5 closely adheres to instructions and justifies its decisions in detail, letting us refine how the Warp agent acts on different kinds of tasks. It works particularly well with upcoming Warp features geared towards complex tasks – stay tuned!
GPT-5’s variable reasoning effort is also an exciting capability, and we extensively tested this to find the right balance between speed and thoroughness in both planning and non-planning scenarios.
We’ve been collaborating with the OpenAI team for a long time and want to thank the team for granting us early access to GPT-5 and supporting our efforts to optimize the model within Warp.
